Hello, Surface

Today a bunch of us at Microsoft got our new surfaces. I’m typing this blog post on mine. There’s something very nice about new hardware and this is not exception.

I have to admit that the touch cover is a very different typing experience and mainly the reason for this blog post is to have something to type to try out the keyboard. It’s way different. There’s no give on the keys themselves but one of the things that makes typing nice is the sound the keys make when you type on them. It almost gives typing a kinetic feel that it really shouldn’t have given that it’s a pad and not a keyboard.

I can type at a fairly normal touch typing rate, which is surprising to me. A few more mistakes than normal but not many. All in all, a perfectly respectable editing experience.
