In chapter 3, the introduction to PowerPivot continues. Rob starts off by mentioning that the engine underlying PowerPivot is Analysis Services which is a mature analytical database engine. He then says that the way to learn PowerPivot is to start simple and grow and that’s the way the book will proceed. He compares the workflow of working with PowerPivot working with PivotTables before PowerPivot. He finishes off the chapter talking briefly about what the book will cover in depth.
So far, Rob’s done a good job setting the stage for the journey ahead. I’m looking forward to the next chapter which is where we will start doing stuff with PowerPivot.
